Many tourists think of Venice as immensely expensive place to stay but in reality it is untrue. Sure, one might come across a very costly hotel in the centre with no possibility to afford it for an ordinary person, but he or she might find a cheaper analogue fitting the budget as well, but, perhaps far from shores and with no marvellous sights outside the window. But on the other side, it is not really important since it is very unlikely that you would spend all days in a building because the entire atmosphere of the island-city implies outdoor activities. And no matter in which hotel you would prefer to stay in any case you would rather enjoy Venice's street wonders. Some tourists prefer to rent an apartment somewhere in small villages by the shore not far from Venice. All those settlements are spread by the sea shore on terra farm which is firm land and welcome guests with their cheaper rents.
But there is one huge disadvantage of staying in there, namely your travels in between. Those who are forced to leave Venice much earlier - when night's joy only begins - envy those who stay there to spend the whole night in whirlpool of the city and to see what exactly Venice is, and they definitely succeed in getting to know what it is. Unfortunately the transport is not always available at night, and some water trams and boats transfer people only during daytime. Certainly there are water taxis which might transfer you to your place whenever you want but their price might be very high. In fact, it is wise to have a lower comfortable dwelling in Venice islands themselves and enjoy their awesome atmosphere taking strolls all over the city days and nights rather than renting an apartment somewhere on firm-land and spend much of your finances on the transfer which in some cases might even exceed the price that you planned to spare or you could spear in Venice itself.
